How to Check Your PlayStation Gift Card Balance (2026 Guide)
A verified, step-by-step walkthrough to view your PSN wallet balance on PS5, PS4, the PlayStation App, and the web โ plus how to redeem a new code and what to do if a top-up doesn't show up.
Sign in to your PlayStation account
Pick the device that's most convenient โ the steps differ slightly but the destination is the same.
- PS5: From the home screen, press the Options button on your profile picture (top right) and choose Switch User if needed. Then go to Settings.
- PS4: From the home screen, go up to the top menu and select your profile > Account Management.
- Web: Open store.playstation.com and sign in with the email tied to your PSN account.
- PlayStation App (iOS / Android): Open the app and tap the PlayStation Store tab at the bottom of the screen.
Open the Wallet section
The path to Wallet depends on the device โ the destination is the same.
- PS5: Settings โ Users and Accounts โ Account โ Payment and Subscriptions โ Wallet
- PS4: Account Management โ Account Information โ Wallet
- Web: store.playstation.com โ Account Settings โ Wallet
- PlayStation App: Tap your avatar (top right) โ Wallet
If you don't see the Payment and Subscriptions option on PS5, your account may not be a PSN account holder โ only the family manager or the original account holder can add funds. Sub-accounts need the family manager to top up the shared wallet.
View your PSN wallet balance
The Wallet screen shows three things in this order:
- Wallet balance โ the headline number, in the currency of your account region (USD, EUR, GBP, etc.). This is your total spendable PSN funds.
- Pending transactions โ purchases that have been authorized but not yet settled. This is usually empty; it fills briefly during checkout.
- Transaction history โ a list of top-ups, game purchases, subscription charges, and refunds for the last 90 days. You can filter and export.
The wallet balance reflects settled funds only. If you just redeemed a code, it normally appears within seconds; in rare cases, settlement can take up to 24 hours.
Redeem a new code (optional)
To add a gift card to your wallet, go to the Wallet screen (Step 2) and choose Redeem Code. Enter the 12-character code from the back of the card (or the email, for digital deliveries) and confirm.
If you bought the card from a third-party reseller, double-check the country match first. PSN codes are region-locked โ a US code won't redeem on a UK account. The country of your PSN account (set at creation) must match the country the card was issued for.
Troubleshooting
"I redeemed a code but my balance didn't change"
First, sign out of PSN and back in โ the Wallet screen caches its value, and a refresh usually forces the new balance to load. If that doesn't help:
- Check the transaction history. If you see a row with the code redemption, the funds are in your wallet but the header just hasn't refreshed. Sign out, sign back in, and check again.
- Verify the code's country matches your account region. A US code won't redeem on a UK account โ you'll see a generic "Code is invalid" error.
- Codes are also case-sensitive. Try typing the code manually instead of copy-pasting โ some copy operations introduce invisible characters.
- If none of the above resolves it, contact PlayStation Support with the code and the timestamp of the attempted redemption. Keep the original email receipt if you bought digitally.
"I see a charge I don't recognize"
Check the transaction history first โ some games show abbreviated names that don't match the game title. Recurring subscriptions (PlayStation Plus, EA Play, etc.) appear as separate lines. If you genuinely see a charge you didn't authorize, take a screenshot, then:
- Change your PSN password immediately at account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com.
- Enable 2-step verification on your account (Sony calls it "2-step verification" โ see Settings โ Users and Accounts โ Security).
- Sign out of all devices from the account management page.
- Contact PlayStation Support within 60 days of the charge to dispute it. Sony typically resolves fraud disputes within 7โ14 business days.
"My balance is in a different currency than I expected"
PSN wallet funds are locked to the currency of the account region you created. A US account holds USD; a UK account holds GBP. You can't change your account region without contacting Sony, and even then, it's only granted for documented relocations. This is one of the most common friction points for global teams โ see the related guide below.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the Wallet on a PS5?
Settings โ Users and Accounts โ Account โ Payment and Subscriptions โ Wallet. Your balance and the last 90 days of transactions are on that screen.
Can I check my PSN balance without a console?
Yes. Use store.playstation.com on any web browser, or the PlayStation App on iOS or Android. Both show the same balance and transaction history as the console.
Why is my balance different on PS5 vs the web?
The most common cause is being signed in to a different PSN account on each device. Sign out everywhere, then sign in to the same account on both. Currency conversion is not the cause โ PSN uses one currency per account region.
Do PlayStation gift cards expire?
PSN wallet funds don't expire while the account is active. Inactive accounts may be subject to Sony's dormant-account policy. Many corporate rewards programs prefer PSN cards because of the long shelf life and universal recognition among gamers.
Can I move my PSN wallet balance to another account?
No. PSN wallet funds are non-transferable between accounts. If a code was redeemed to the wrong account, contact PlayStation Support within 14 days โ they sometimes can move the balance as a one-time courtesy.
