🌍 Features · Global Rewards

Reward your team anywhere on Earth — in their language, their currency, their local brands

One platform. Every country. Rewordin handles FX, local brand selection, tax compliance, and instant delivery for employees in 150+ countries — so you run one global program, not 50 local ones.

The Problem

Most companies give up on global rewards before they start

The reason is not budget. It is that sending a $50 reward to an employee in Tokyo, Berlin, and São Paulo from one finance system involves three currencies, four tax jurisdictions, and dozens of brand-specific decisions. Most HR teams tap out at "we will do something local for non-US employees."

Currency conversion at the wrong rate

Manual conversion via spreadsheets leads to inconsistent reward values. A $50 reward becomes $48 in some countries, $52 in others. Employees compare notes.

Wrong brand for the country

You bought US Amazon codes for everyone. Polish employees cannot redeem them. German employees get hit with conversion fees. HR has to manually swap and re-distribute.

Tax compliance chaos

Each country has different thresholds. UK Trivial Benefits, US $600 rule, Polish ZFŚS, German €60 Sachbezug. Finance flags the whole program as "too risky to scale."

We have seen this pattern in every global rollout. The marketing team announces a "global recognition program," finance approves the budget, and then reality hits: by the time HR has researched tax rules in 12 countries, sourced gift cards that work in each one, set up currency conversion, and figured out how to deliver a code to a contractor in Vietnam — six months have passed and the program is still US-only.

Rewordin exists to compress that six months into one afternoon. Connect your HRIS, set a global budget in your base currency, and every employee — wherever they are — gets a locally-relevant reward in their currency, with the right tax treatment applied, in under 60 seconds.

What "local" actually means

When a Rewordin reward lands in an employee inbox, it does not feel like an international transfer. It feels like a thoughtful, on-brand reward that someone in their country curated. Same logo, same currency, same brands they would see at their local mall. That difference is the entire point.

What we mean by "locally relevant"

  • Catalogs in the employee local language (machine-translated, then reviewed by native speakers for the top brands)
  • Brands that are actually available in the employee country — no US-only Amazon codes sent to Poland
  • Currency displayed in local format (1.234,56 in Germany, 1,234.56 in US, ₹1,23,456 in India)
  • Local payment methods accepted for any top-up (Pix in Brazil, BLIK in Poland, UPI in India, Konbini in Japan)
  • Local support hours in the employee timezone, in their language, via email and Slack/Teams

Currency Conversion

One base currency, every local currency — at real exchange rates

How the FX engine works

We pull mid-market exchange rates from a tier-1 FX provider every 60 seconds during business hours, every 15 minutes overnight. The rate you see in the dashboard is the rate the recipient gets — no markup, no spread, no hidden margin.

Lock-in rates for budget predictability

For finance teams who do not want surprise FX swings on a quarterly accrual, you can lock in the rate at the moment of approval. Once locked, every reward charged against that approval batch uses the same rate, even if delivered weeks later. Ask your account manager to enable rate lock-in.

Hedging for big global rollouts

If you are running a $500K global rollout, we will work with our FX partner to lock the entire budget at a forward rate for the quarter. This is standard for Enterprise customers; talk to your account manager.

Tax Compliance

Built-in tax rules for 50+ countries. Finance will not block your rollout.

We do not make you learn the Polish ZFŚS or the UK Trivial Benefits rule. We apply the right rule automatically, flag anything that needs accountant review, and generate the reports your finance team needs.

What "tax compliant" actually means in practice

For every reward sent, Rewordin records: sender, recipient, country, amount in local currency, amount in your base currency, the applicable de minimis rule, the tax treatment, and a unique transaction ID. Finance gets one monthly export, broken down by country and tax treatment, in whatever format their accounting system prefers (CSV, JSON, or direct integration).

If you use a payroll or HRIS, the data flows automatically

Connect Workday, SAP, ADP, Personio, BambooHR, or any of our 20+ integrations, and the reward data lands in the right place in the right format for month-end close. No double entry, no manual reconciliation.

For accountants, by accountants

Our tax rules are reviewed quarterly by Natalia Kamieniak (CFO, Rewordin) together with our regional tax partners. When a country changes a rule, we update the engine and notify affected customers within 30 days — typically well before the rule takes effect.

Delivery

How the reward actually gets to the employee

Three delivery channels, one tracking dashboard, instant confirmation. The employee always knows what they got, where it came from, and what to do with it.

1. Digital gift cards — the default, and 80% of what we deliver

Delivered to the employee email or Slack/Teams DM within 60 seconds of approval. The email/DM contains: the gift card brand, the exact amount in local currency, a one-tap redemption link, a copy of the message from the sender (if peer-to-peer), and a QR code if they prefer to redeem in-store.

2. Prepaid Visa / Mastercard — for thin markets

For countries with limited local-brand catalogs, we issue a virtual or physical Visa/Mastercard prepaid card in the local currency. These are accepted everywhere Visa/MC is taken, and they work for online and offline purchases alike. Physical cards ship in 2-3 business days inside the US, EU, and UK; 5-7 days elsewhere.

3. Physical merchandise & experiences

For high-touch rewards (work anniversaries, retirement gifts, top-performer awards), we offer branded merchandise (premium headphones, smart watches, custom swag boxes) and experiences (dinners, spa days, weekend getaways) delivered locally via our partner network in 60+ countries.

Real Scenarios

What global HR teams actually automate after connecting Rewordin

These are the four most common global reward patterns we see across our customers. Each one runs without any manual work once it is set up.

Global onboarding kits

New hire in Tokyo, Berlin, São Paulo, or Sydney gets a welcome gift in their local currency on day one. Automated via Workday/Personio/BambooHR triggers.

HRIS new hire→Rewordin local catalog→Slack DM + gift card

Distributed team recognition

Peer-to-peer recognition for fully remote teams. A peer in Singapore recognizes a peer in Dublin — both in their local currency, both instantly.

Peer sends kudos→Auto-convert to local→both in local currency

International sales incentives

Pay a global SPIF in the rep's local currency. Top performers in São Paulo, Mumbai, and Amsterdam all get paid the same day, in their currency.

Deal closes→Currency match→instant local payout

Global anniversary service awards

5-year tenure in Manila, 10-year in Bogotá, 20-year in Munich — all recognized in local currency, with the right tax treatment per country.

Tenure milestone→Local catalog + tax rule→compliant delivery

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The questions our customers and prospects ask most. If yours is not here, our team replies within 4 business hours.

How many countries does Rewordin support?

150+ countries. We have local brand partnerships in every major market (US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, India, Singapore, Japan, Australia, UAE, South Africa) and can deliver digital gift cards to virtually any country with a digital payments infrastructure.

How does currency conversion work?

You set your reward budget in your base currency (USD, EUR, GBP, PLN, etc.) and Rewordin automatically converts to the recipient local currency at real-time mid-market exchange rates. The recipient sees the exact amount in their currency, and your finance team gets one invoice in your base currency. No surprise FX fees on the recipient end.

Do employees choose from local brands?

Yes. Employees see a curated catalog of brands actually available in their country. Someone in Germany sees German brands in EUR (Amazon.de, Otto, MediaMarkt, H&M, Zalando, Lieferando, etc.). Someone in Japan sees Japanese brands in JPY. Someone in Brazil sees Brazilian brands in BRL. We never deliver a US-only Amazon code to an employee in Poland.

How does tax compliance work for international rewards?

Rewordin automatically applies local tax and reporting rules for each country. We track thresholds like de minimis exemptions (e.g. $600 in the US, £60 in the UK under Trivial Benefits, PLN 380 in Poland under ZFŚS), VAT on B2B purchases, sales tax in the US, GST in Australia, and Benefits in Kind rules in the UK. Each month, you get a clean report broken down by country, tax treatment, and cost center.

How long does delivery take?

Digital gift cards are delivered in under 60 seconds to the employee email or Slack/Teams DM. Physical merchandise (branded swag, physical gift cards) ships within 2-3 business days inside the US, EU, and UK. For 80+ other countries, physical delivery is 5-7 business days via tracked courier.

What currencies does Rewordin support?

30+ currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, PLN, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, CZK, HUF, RON, BGN, HRK, CAD, MXN, BRL, ARS, CLP, COP, PEN, AUD, NZD, JPY, KRW, SGD, HKD, INR, IDR, MYR, THB, PHP, VND, ZAR, AED, SAR, ILS, TRY, EGP, NGN, KES, MAD, GHS, and more. If your currency is not on the list, contact us — we add new currencies monthly.

Can I budget in one currency and pay employees in another?

Yes. You approve a budget of €50,000 in EUR for a global onboarding program. The system automatically converts each $50 reward to PLN for Polish hires, BRL for Brazilian hires, JPY for Japanese hires, etc. at the mid-market rate. Your finance team sees one consolidated EUR invoice.

Do you support prepaid Visa or Mastercard for countries without strong local catalogs?

Yes. For countries with thin local-brand coverage, we deliver Visa or Mastercard prepaid cards in the local currency, accepted everywhere Visa/MC is accepted. These are the right answer for one-time global rollouts, and most customers use them as a fallback alongside local-brand gift cards for major markets.
